Change Your Future by Setting Goals

When you look at successful individuals the world over, no matter what area of life they have achieved their success in, you will find that almost all of them have one thing in common and that is this unwavering belief that they WILL accomplish their goal, regardless of what obstacles stand in their way.
It's not surprising either that in some way, shape or form their goals were put down on paper long before they set out on their journey to success.
Goal setting is an important part of success, it gives you a purpose, something to focus on and when written down is a powerful way to help program your subconscious mind on finding a way of achieving even the most improbable of goals.
To achieve anything in life you need to know what you want and where you are going. Getting your goals down on paper gives you a tangible manifestation of your thoughts, dreams and ambitions.
When I say 'getting it down on paper' it doesn't always have to be in the form of written goals. Neither does It always have to be 'on paper', after all in this digital age where we have our mobile phones with us during every waking hour, what better place to have your goals than on a screen you probably look at a hundred times a day!
If you don't fancy writing down your goals then how about a 'vision board' made up of images, photographs and magazine cuttings depicting your goals in a more vivid way. Or as I tend to do, why not use a combination of the two?
Regardless of how you decide to get your goals down, it's IMPORTANT that you do for three main reasons.
Firstly, Just the act of writing down each goal or searching for the image of that 'dream car' starts to get your subconscious mind working and takes you a step closer to making it a reality.
The second reason to get your goals on paper is to give yourself direction, after all you wouldn't set out on a journey before knowing your destination would you?

No!

So why then, do so many people stumble through their lives without knowing where they want to go or how they are going to get there?
In the end, if you don't know where you are going how will you know when you finally arrive?
Thirdly, if you have goals to look at everyday, no matter how big or how small it helps you to build up a positive mental attitude, this in turn builds momentum that little by little coupled with some form of action will help turn your goals into a reality.

Okay! how do you do this...
First grab yourself a few sheets of paper and a pen, sit down in a quiet room where you will not be disturbed and clear your head of any limiting thoughts that may restrict your ambitions.

Then just start writing...
write down everything your heart desires, everything you want to achieve, everything you want to own, how much money you want to make, where in life you want to go - both physically and emotionally, every character trait you want to change or improve, where you want to live, what car you want to drive, the places you want to see, the people you want to help.
Be positive and write it all down, no matter how improbable it may appear to you at this moment in time, do not limit yourself to goals that you think you COULD achieve, write down what you WANT to achieve no matter how crazy it may seem.
For most people all our lives we have been told by parents, teachers, work colleagues and friends that these things are beyond us, we are not the kind of people who can achieve these heights, we don't have the right education or we are being silly for even wanting these things in life, worst of all when we hear it over and over again from so many different people we come to believe it ourselves.
Therefore what we have to do is break a lifetime of limiting thoughts and conditioning...

So how do we even start?
Well, once you have everything down on paper read through it again and make sure you have it all covered. Don't worry about how silly it may sound when you read it out loud to yourself, we all feel that way when we first do this, it's only natural. After all you are going against everything you have been told all of your life.
Anyway nobody is going to be reading this but you!
What you need to do next is take each goal and write it out again, but this time write it in as much detail as possible and as though you have already accomplished it...
For example if one of your goals is to be more confident don't just write...
'I want to be confident'
Write...
'I am a naturally confident person and very self-assured even in the most difficult of circumstances'
If you have decided to do a vision board then post images of people you admire for their confidence or a photograph of you when you were in a situation where you felt particularly confident.
If some of your goals seem extremely ambitious or even beyond what you think you are capable of achieving at this moment in time, don't worry...
look at how you can break those big goals down into a number of smaller more attainable goals. This way for every smaller goal you accomplish you are one more step closer to the big one.
The trick is to be as detailed as possible so you convince your subconscious mind that what you are reading or seeing is actually a reality.
Once you have your goals clearly written out or your vision board prepared then you need to look at it EVERY DAY - NO EXCEPTIONS!
Visualise each goal in your head, do it in as much detail as possible, see yourself in the situation, feel the emotions you will experience once it is achieved...
Walk through that dream house looking into every room. Notice the decor, the furniture, the smells and sounds...
Climb into your luxury car and breathe in the aroma of the leather, feel the texture of the steering wheel in your hand...
Count the money you are making, seeing every bill as you place it onto the table...
Feel your self confidence grow as you walk up to give that big presentation...
Enjoy the taste of your fruit cocktail as you recline on that secluded beach in the Maldives...

REMEMBER - EVERY DAY, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Two, three, four times a day or more, but once a day at the very least...
Preferably before you retire, because the time just before we drift off to sleep is when your subconscious is most susceptible to absorbing the information you are sending it.
It's generally believed that we need to repeat something 30 times or more before it becomes a habit. What this means to you is that for the whole of the first month you are really going to have to make an effort to do this on a daily basis. However over time it will become a natural part of your daily routine and once it does then you are well on your way to turning those dreams, goals and ambitions into reality.
Having said that, setting goals alone will not accomplish anything unless you take action.
You can hold an acorn in your hand and visualise the mighty Oak tree that it will become, but none of this will come to pass unless you TAKE ACTION! You need to plant the acorn in the ground and make sure it has the light and water that it needs to grow and flourish.
Similarly just like the acorn you need to action your goals and provide them with the sustenance they need to realise your eventual objective.
All the visualisation in the world is not going to help you achieve anything unless you do something about it in the real world.

As the old proverb says "Even the longest journey begins with a single step"

As long as you take action - no matter how small it may seem at first, visualise your goals and continue to do so on a daily basis the change will come.
Suddenly you will start to notice how ideas are popping into your mind, you will find solutions to problems you previously had no idea how to solve, everything is starting to look much clearer than it did before and opportunity seems to be around every corner.

In short IT WILL change your life for the better.

The Secret to Successful Goal Setting

Stop! Check this out before you make any more goals!

Don't be like everyone else; most people make their goals incorrectly. You know, like the guy down the street with the brand new jogging shoes and suit. You want to bet he doesn't make it from January to March?
The one goal that many people make is to get into shape. (A friend of mine told me, I'm always in shape, sometimes apple shaped, and sometimes pear shaped) Now be honest. How many years have you made that resolution?
With goals in hand, it's off to the gym we go!
You know it's one of those moments where you feel like you've been here before. It's time to clear the mind and hit the weights. You have a lot of toning-up to do so you walk over to the weights. And start your journey to body perfection. And by mid January you're so sore and tired you're ready to give up.
It's really bad when you start looking for excuses not to go to the gym. But hang on; a good excuse will be coming just around the corner! It doesn't matter what it is, like the man said "any old excuse will do." So yours comes and you stop going to the gym.
There's a better way than quitting!
The secret to success is not to set those big goals.
I know... everyone... and I mean everyone will tell you to write down your goals, that one big goal so you can keep it in front of you. You know the drill, put it on the refrigerator, bathroom mirror, beside you bed so it's the first and last thing you see every day.
Tell me the truth. Do you really look at those big goals once you start falling behind? After a few weeks of getting further behind don't you just avoid them like the strange people that live next door?

Are you ready for a better way?

You are!

Great!

Set small, achievable goals!

Don't do like they tell you; set a goal something like "I will lose 40 pounds in three months."
The problem here my friend is when you miss the mark on the goal, you get discouraged and quit. And this is not good. If you aren't careful you will create a habit of quitting. And a habit that is let go for too long is hard to break.
For a goal to be achievable it has to become part of your routine. And to be part of your routine, you must rewire your brain.
So we set small goals, get some victories and start reprogramming the mind.
Start with something like "I will exercise for 10 minutes three days a week."
After you get your brain reprogrammed to the exercise routine, then you make incremental increases to your workout set.
You will add one more rep to a work set, or another exercise routine. A simple progression with proper performance of the exercise and persistence wins in the long run.
Then one day you will look back and be amazed at where you came from... and you will know where you're going.
Just to condense it, start small, then do incremental increases to your workout set that you properly do, and be persistent. Don't give up.

Goal Settings: How To Set Goals You Can Achieve

If you want to set goals you can achieve, do not focus on them. It seems that these words go against everything that is ever said about goals. A lot of people are talking about the power of setting goals but not many about how to achieve them. Yet, it is a fundamental key to an all lifelong success plan.

So how can you set goals? How can you achieve them? What can you do today, tomorrow or this week that will get you closer to your goals? And what is the power of goal setting?

The challenge, of course, is that we hear about setting goals so often that we tend to take it just a little bit for granted. When you get yourself to a point where you have heard it so many times, you act like you know all about it. But you need to be careful not to get caught in that trap called the law of familiarity. It is the place where you get so used to it.

The prevailing thought is to think about what you want to do. Then, you set goals, write them down, stay focused on them and go forward. You check your list over and over again, come back to it, adjust it, and that is how you achieve your goals. But I believe it is not the way goals should be attained.

Some people even do it once a year, when they make a New Year resolution. They set goals, and they do forget it until a year later. These people usually have no power. They take the power of goals too lightly which brings us to some basics.

You have to realize you have to practice the fundamentals daily. Think about the great coaches in sports history for example. They often teach the basics to people that are already the best at what they do. These top trainers make them go through the fundamentals over and over again, hundreds of time, day after day until they can do it at a crucial moment.

Back to Basics
Should I remind you about Mr. Miyagi in "Karate Kid" with his wax on wax off? When you set goals, you have to go back and go through the basics every day. So that when you do it again, you understand how to do it even more efficiently.

"Repetition is the mother of all skills" - Tony Robbins

If you want to reach your set goals, you have to master your skills. The reason being is that along with your journey, you make new distinctions, set new goals or even change them. So do not think for a second that you already know how to achieve them.

The bottom line often is that most people do not have a clearly defined set of objectives anyway. You need to go from the frame of mastering simple things over and over to achieve set goals. So, you have to break through the bonds of the past and look in a whole new way where you understand that you have to do whatever it takes and not be bored by basics.

Setting Goals is Powerful
Why do we need to set goals and use them? Are they important? The answer is that when you set objectives for yourself, you create the future in advance. You form your destiny and shape your life. Whether we know it or not, we all have goals.

As a result, know that your goals are affecting you. The problem is that some people have lousy goals. Those get you through the day, the week, the month or help you pay the bills but are not the kind of objectives that inspire you or make you jump out of bed in the morning. These goals do not create the drive you need to achieve something greater.

You must realize that very few people have a particular plan or even written goals. So, when you set goals, I mean real aims, you can create the power to grow, develop and expand your success. You must have something out there that is compelling enough to draw you forth and transform your life.

Reflection Time to Set Goals
Next, you have to know why you set goals, why you are doing it, and what you are moving towards. The reason being is that if you do not, you won't get the most out of yourself. You have to take time to reflect so that you can set goals. It does not matter if you reflect for days; what is important is that you do it.

Then, take two or three days to design plans and how you can achieve them. You have to set goals that are well beyond your current ability or skill. It does not matter if you have yet no idea on how to make them happen. You simply have to operate from a principle that is talked about all over the world, regardless of what you believe.

It is a common law which is the power of absolute belief and faith. If you can get inspired enough and find a goal that is exciting enough, you can figure out a way to make it happen. Even if right now it seems impossible, you can pull it off.

Set Goals in Every Area of Life
You have to set goals for yourself in every area of your life. Set them personally, emotionally, socially, physically and financially. Create an ultimate aim and what you want right now. You need objectives on who you want to be, how much happiness or passion you desire, and how you want to live every single day.

No matter the pages it could take, you should describe everything in detail, even the person of your dreams. And yes, you might create a lot of limitations or absurd goals, but if after reviewing those, your goals still make sense to you, you should believe in their realization. You have to design your own road map necessary for success.

Now you have to implement them. Of course, some of your goals will not work out, but you can achieve most of your set goals. A massive change will occur as you follow through. Your level of confidence will boost, and your faith, as well as your abilities, will change radically.

Behaviors vs. Focus for Set Goals
You need to realize that when you set goals for yourself, they are outside of your control, so if you spend too much time focusing on your goals, you never achieve them. By contrast, if you focus on your behaviors rather than your goals, then you can achieve your objectives.

You alone can see to your behaviors. They are what you can control. So, you have to ignore the part of your goals that you cannot influence and focus on the part that is in your control which is behaviors. Once you focus on your actions, day after day, you begin to learn all the information you need to reach your set goals.

When you visualize your goal as already achieved, it puts you in a position where you can focus on a plan to make it. Behaviors are short term based when we set goals; it is usually seven days. So you have to think about what you can do today, tomorrow and this week, write them down and go for it.

The Define Precision of Goals
You should act with intelligence because what is real today is based on your past, on your previous experiences. So if you limit your future based on your past, you won't go anywhere. You need to set goals that are big enough to drive you. So do not stop and go "How do I do it?"

It is not the first step. The initial phase is getting it all written down, and if you do that, you can create and shape your own paradise, whatever you choose to create. It starts with a simple process of taking these generalized dream impulses and then to define them with more precision.

That is the power of goal setting. There is something beyond just what you understand of writing something down. Something happens! You become a creator when you set goals and put them down on paper. You get a clear vision while you can make them happen.

Therefore, you need to ensure that you not only set goals, but you get entirely clear why you want them. it is a fact that there is a fundamental core in goal-setting that can change your life and the answer is that purpose is stronger than the outcome.

The Motivation behind Set Goals
The meaning of it is that the purpose of goals is not so you get things but rather of what they will make of you as a person. I am in the phase of realizing that right now. Most people set goals blindly. They desire and focus on material things. And there is nothing wrong with that; I want you to have as many things as you want because that is part of life too.

It is part of the manifestation process of creating results when you set goals. But if all you do is to focus on getting things, it may cost you your integrity of who you want to be, of what you want to create in your life. So you got to be careful!

A Final Word when You Set Goals
In conclusion, make sure that when you set a goal, you know why you are doing it. Making money motivates only so much, but becoming a person who can manifest abundance financially and physically for themselves and the people around them is rather more fulfilling. Having the freedom that money can give or have the ability to give or help others by paying it forward usually motivates more than just anything else.

So when you set goals, do not take them for granted. Focus on what you can control and let the universe take care of the rest. Do act on your intentions seriously and consistently to achieve them. I know you can go well beyond what you can dream of, I believe in you!
